Redeemer’s University Admission Policy
Purpose
Redeemer’s University is fully committed to upholding the principles of fairness, inclusivity, and equal opportunity in its admissions process. The University believes that access to higher education should be determined solely by merit, potential, and character, not by social or demographic circumstances. This policy outlines the University’s commitment to a non-discriminatory admissions process that provides equal access to all qualified applicants, regardless of religion, gender, race, ethnicity, nationality, age, disability, or socio-economic background. In line with its Christian values and the pursuit of excellence, Redeemer’s University ensures that no individual is excluded or disadvantaged on any unjust grounds.
Furthermore, the University actively works to identify, measure, and track applications and admissions of underrepresented and potentially underrepresented groups, including ethnic minorities, low-income students, women, persons with disabilities, and newly settled refugee students. Through this approach, Redeemer’s University aims to foster a diverse academic community that reflects its mission to empower individuals from all walks of life to achieve their fullest potential
Scope
This policy applies to all undergraduate and postgraduate admissions at Redeemer’s University. It covers all applicants—domestic and international—and extends to all faculties, departments, and colleges within the institution. The policy also governs how applications are processed, evaluated, and reviewed, ensuring fairness and transparency throughout the admissions process. As a Christian institution founded on principles of justice, integrity, and compassion, Redeemer’s University expects all third-party partners and affiliated entities to align with these values and operate in full compliance with national labor laws and international standards, ensuring that the spirit of inclusivity and fairness extends beyond the University campus.
Policy Statement

The University is committed to providing an admissions process that promotes equal opportunity and inclusivity while maintaining high academic standards and upholding its Christian values of justice, compassion, and integrity. In line with this commitment, Redeemer’s University ensures the following:
- Non-Discriminatory Admissions: All applicants will be treated with fairness and respect, without discrimination on the basis of gender, age, religion, ethnicity, nationality, disability, or socioeconomic status. Admission decisions are based solely on academic qualifications, demonstrated potential, and alignment with the University’s mission.
- Inclusive and Accessible Admissions Process:The University provides clear, transparent, and accessible admission pathways for all applicants, including persons with disabilities and candidates from disadvantaged or underrepresented backgrounds. Reasonable accommodations are made where necessary to ensure equal access to application materials, entrance assessments, and interviews.
- Data-Driven Monitoring of Diversity: Redeemer’s University actively tracks applications and admissions data to identify trends, barriers, and gaps affecting underrepresented groups — including ethnic minorities, low-income students, women, non-traditional learners, and refugees. This ongoing evaluation helps refine policies and ensure the University community reflects diverse perspectives.

Through preparatory workshops, mentorship schemes, and community partnerships, Redeemer’s fosters pathways for talented individuals who might otherwise face barriers to entry.
- Transparency and Accountability:Admissions criteria, timelines, and procedures are publicly available and reviewed regularly to ensure compliance with national education standards and international best practices. Applicants have the right to appeal admissions decisions through a fair and impartial review process. Redeemer’s University remains steadfast in its belief that diversity enhances academic excellence and strengthens its spiritual and intellectual community. By ensuring fair and open access to education, the University continues to empower students to become transformative leaders, guided by faith and a commitment to societal progress.
University Responsibility
Redeemer’s University bears the institutional responsibility to ensure that its admissions processes and related policies are implemented in full alignment with national education laws, international equity standards, and the University’s internal Code of Ethics.
To achieve this, the University commits to:
- Oversight and Implementation: The Directorate of Academic Affairs, working closely with the Admissions Office, is charged with enforcing this policy across all undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. They ensure that all departments adhere to the principles of fairness, transparency, and inclusivity during admissions cycles.
- Data Collection and Reporting:The University shall maintain accurate, up-to-date records on student applications, admissions offers, and enrolment trends. This data will be disaggregated by gender, socioeconomic background, disability status, and other relevant factors to monitor diversity and inform continuous improvement.
- Regular Review of Admissions Criteria:Admissions policies and procedures will be reviewed annually by the Senate Committee on Admissions and Student Affairs to ensure they remain equitable, merit-based, and responsive to the evolving educational landscape.
- Training and Sensitisation:All admissions officers, faculty interviewers, and administrative staff involved in the selection process will undergo periodic training on non-discrimination, inclusive education practices, unconscious bias, and accessibility standards.
- Collaboration and Outreach:Redeemer’s University will continue to collaborate with local schools, faith-based organisations, and community networks to raise awareness of its admission opportunities, especially among underrepresented or economically disadvantaged groups.
- Accountability:The University shall maintain clear mechanisms for addressing grievances related to admissions decisions. Complaints will be handled fairly, confidentially, and in line with the institution’s ethics and compliance framework. Through these responsibilities, Redeemer’s University reaffirms its commitment to providing a welcoming academic environment where every qualified student — regardless of background, has an equal opportunity to pursue excellence, contribute to knowledge, and embody the University’s motto: “Our Redeemer is Strong.”
