SDG 13 - Climate Action
Introduction
At Redeemer's University, our mission for Sustainable Development Goal 13: Climate Action is to address climate change through impactful research, education, and strategic collaborations. Our dedicated researchers focus on climate resilience, mitigation, and adaptation strategies that contribute to both local and global climate action efforts.
The university runs local education programs on climate change, raising awareness and fostering sustainability within our community. We actively engage in co-operative planning for climate change disasters, collaborating with local authorities and stakeholders to develop climate resilience strategies. In addition, Redeemer's University works to inform and support government climate initiatives by providing research-based insights and policy recommendations.
Through these initiatives, Redeemer's University is committed to advancing climate action and building a more sustainable and resilient future for all.

The article reviews international and national policy responses to combat global warming and climate change in Nigeria, particularly in light of oil exploration and gas flaring in the Niger Delta. It emphasizes the need for Nigeria to better align its efforts with global agreements such as the Kyoto Protocol and Paris Agreement. By implementing reforms like the Nigeria Gas Flare Commercialisation Programme and the Climate Change Act of 2021, Nigeria aims to reduce gas flaring and mitigate environmental degradation. This aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 13 (SDG 13), which focuses on taking urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts. To explore more, refer to Gasu et al. (2022) in Town and Regional Planning
